What Is the CBP One App?
CBP One was a mobile app launched by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to manage various immigration processes, including allowing asylum seekers to schedule appointments at ports of entry.
It became the primary tool used during the Biden administration for individuals—especially from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela—seeking humanitarian parole or access to the U.S. asylum system.
In January 2025, the Trump administration canceled all pending appointments and shut down CBP One, replacing it with a new app: CBP Home.
Why You Might Want to Delete the App

CBP One raises significant privacy concerns due to its collection of personal data—including GPS locations, biometric “selfies,” and other sensitive information—which are stored in government databases.
Importantly, the newly launched CBP Home app continues to use some of the same data collected by CBP One.
Although the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed the app did not track users, advocates warned this data could be accessed by other government agencies or even local law enforcement.
This ongoing data retention and reuse increases the risk of your location being tracked, surveillance and other misuse by the DHS.
For those who previously downloaded CBP One, we strongly recommend deleting the app to protect your privacy.
